Surfer festival May 2 at Folly
Folly Beach will host a group of professional Hawaiian and Californian surfers for Surf Run Heal Festival 5K run and Splashdown on May 2.
The surfers are traveling around the country staging daylong surf camps for children with autism and their families.
The event starts at 7:45 a.m. at Arctic and Center streets with race registration. The first race is a 5K fun run/walk, which will be followed by two surfboard paddle races. The event also includes The Rebel Yell Dash, a 200-yard race around the buoy on any type of surfboard.
The second race is a half-mile mile Stand Up Paddleboard race starting at the pier and traveling down the beach a quarter-mile and back.
Winners will receive trophies. A street festival with live bands, food, games and a dunk tank follows the festival. The event ends at 3 p.m.
Bazaar planned at Edisto Beach
The 42nd annual bazaar sponsored by the Whatsoever Circle of the Kings Daughters and Sons of Edisto Island will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. May 2 at the Lions Club House on Myrtle Street, Edisto Beach.
The bazaar includes the works of local artisans and vendors. The lunch room will be open for lunch and treats. A merchant drawing will begin about 1 p.m. Children's activities will be available.
The event raises funds for the Whatsoever Circle, which assists families who are in distress from crises such as fires, storms, special medical needs or job loss. The organization also benefits schools, the Island Food Pantry and provides home repairs for the needy.
Rose Society show, presentation set
The Charleston Lowcountry Rose Society will host its 17th annual Rose Show 6 a.m.-5 p.m. May 2 at Northwoods Mall's Dillard's Court.
The public will exhibit roses 6-10 a.m. Vases will be furnished. American Rose Society judges will begin judging at 10:15 a.m.
In West Ashley, Pat Hibbard will make a presentation on David Austin English Roses at 7 p.m. May 4 at Village Church of Christ, 736 Savage Road, just off Savannah Highway in West Ashley.

Bethany Men's Fish Fry is May 2
Bethany United Methodist Church Men's Club will hold its Fish Fry on May 2 at 1853 Maybank Highway.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger. Tickets include all you can eat at the Fellowship Hall and drive-through for takeout.
The menu includes fried or baked fish, hush puppies, baked beans and coleslaw. Tea and coffee will be available inside. Sweets and desserts may be purchased inside.

Eastern Star show to spotlight crafts
Betsy Ross Chapter 189 of the Order of the Eastern Star is sponsoring a craft show 9 a.m.-4 p.m. May 9 at 945 Wappoo Road.
All crafts are handmade.
Cinco de Mayo at Bethany Church
Riverland Terrace Garden Club will have a Cinco de
Mayo luncheon at 11:30 a.m. May 5 for Bethany United Methodist Church members.
New officers will be installed. Lunch is $15.

Fundraiser to help Pet Helpers
O'Malley's Bar & Grill, 549 King St., will hold a fundraiser for Pet Helpers 2-5 p.m. May 2.
The event includes food, live bands and games. Tickets are $10 and include hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, pasta and veggie options.
Dogs are welcome.
